Finished Cowboy Bebop. It's easy to see why it's considered to be one of the best experiences the medium has to offer despite being 20 years old. I don't know how to describe it but it truly has a one of a kind atmosphere. It leaves you with a very distinct feeling. Bittersweet.
It's rare that a series has such a special charm AND the subtle writing needed to fit the style. Everything about the series is cool but that never stops it from feeling personal. Spike exemplifies this combination of style and substance. You feel the depth behind his smile.
Cowboy Bebop never questions anything too deep nor does it hit you over the head with nihilistic dialogue but the series uses the episodic format so well that you are still left thinking about the bigger picture. The subtlety just makes it all the more bittersweet when it clicks.
