In just 3 weeks Boris Johnson has attracted the 3 largest Lords defeats since the chamber's 1999 reform, on the Internal Market Bill.

The largest, last night by 268 votes, involved 44 Tory rebels, including former leaders Michael Howard & William Hague. https://votes.parliament.uk/Votes/Lords/Division/2358#not-contents
Last night's other defeat, by 259 votes, attracted 38 Conservative rebels.

Also rebelling were numerous former ministers from different Conservative administrations, and former committee chairs such as @LordNortonLouth of @HLConstitution committee. https://votes.parliament.uk/Votes/Lords/Division/2359#not-contents
For completeness here are details of the third defeat, from 20 October.

All of them were targeted at the clauses in the bill permitting the government to breach international law, including the EU Withdrawal Agreement Boris Johnson signed last year. https://twitter.com/ConUnit_UCL/status/1318545099874312204?s=19
This is largely an argument within the Conservative Party, over the rule of law.

Claims it represents the 'pro-EU' House of Lords (Michael Howard?) vs. 'the people' are pure populism, designed to stoke anti-parliament headlines.
