Let's do things differently this week! How about we all get random medical check ups! Here is list of some of the things you could focus on:
Full Blood Count.
This would rule out different types of anaemia, check if your blood can easily clot in case of an injury, and possible infections.

HIV Test
It's going knowing if your negative (so you stay that way) or if you are positive (so we get you on meds and you get to a point that your viral load is so low that can't be detected). At this point, the risk of passing it on is very low and immunity is strong strong

Viral Load and CD4 Count
For those previously HIV positive, you need to check how you are doing on those meds! Is your immunity getting better? Is viral suppression being achieved? These two tests can guide us

Fasting Blood Sugars
You might be wondering that sometimes you drink alot of water, pee alot and eat alot (Polyuria, polydipsia and polyphagia). I know it's hot but you know...sometimes you just know it's not normal! You might be diabetic! Please check your nearest lab for a FBS

Alot of us are moving around the hypertension and we don't even know. You just hear that someone has sustained a cerebral vascular accident (stroke). It's just good to check if your BPs are normal, you will be guided on how often to check

Cervical Cancer Screening
Ladies, the earlier the better! The cases of Cervical Cancer in Malawi are not uncommon. Get checked please, treatments are more successful when the cancer is known earlier

Tetanus Toxoid Vaccine - TTV (not an investigation)
If you are a lady in a child bearing age, you need to know that when you get pregnant, you are required to get about 5 TTV shots to protect you from tetanus and protect to newborn from neonatal tetanus! Alot of women start....

...but don't finish the 2 years! When you miss a month, you need to start all over again! It's best you start early, and finish them so that your little one is well protected. If you finish all the 5 shots, you don't need to do them again when you get pregnant
VDRL
This test will rule out syphilis. Symptoms of syphilis can sometimes disappear without treatment, but it doesn't mean that it's gone gone...it's still in your blood! And when it shows up in chronic phase, it's bad bad! Get checked, get treated and be happy

Stool Analysis and Urinalysis
Black stools might mean bleeding from the gastrointestinal tract! Do you check before you flash? Lol! Anywho, get your stools checked, urine analysed to see if you are not losing stuff that are not meant to go out through urine (UTIs) and stools!

Ultrasound Scanning (USS)
Kinda skeptical when there is no indication, but it's a good thing to do an abdominal scan and a pelvic scan (for ladies). Just check the sizes of your liver, spleen, and any visceral organ. Ladies, on top of these, check out your ovaries...

There is like alot of stuff you can check...even more when you show some symptoms! You can always talk to your doctor for more guidance! It's always great to know and pay attention to your health
It's even safe to go and check out how much you weigh against your height and know your BMI. Obesity is also coming for us nowadays!
