A Thread
I am going to start by telling why existing research posit that France is a top destination for folks seeking to study abroad. Some of the reasons are:

- Variety of programs and universities
- True academics (innovation)
- You get to learn French https://www.goabroad.com/articles/study-abroad/why-study-abroad-in-france
While you will definitely experience a lot regarding culture, food and other adventures when you study abroad, let us focus on what is really prime.

“Getting you there in the first place”

Many scholars have been able to secure admission (Bachelor, Master, PhD) to study in 🇫🇷
The first step any individual should take for any of the degree types is to obtain an international passport. This travel document is very critical going forward up until eventual enrollment.

Most especially, If you need to take standardized tests, you will require a passport.
Now, that we have cleared that up, let me explain how the French Higher Education System works.

🇫🇷 “Higher education is divided into 3 stages:

• the Premier cycle, two-year course up to DEUG (Diplôme universitaire d’enseignement général) level;
• the Deuxième cycle,..
... third year up to the licence followed by the one-year maîtrise; and
• the higher postgraduate study beginning with the Diplôme d’études approfondies (DEA) or with the Diplôme d’études supérieures spécialisées - DESS (diploma in an applied subject).

Since we are looking at Bachelors, Masters or PhD, we’ll be focusing on Universities in France🇫🇷. So far, by my count, there are 234 in number. See https://www.4icu.org/fr/ .

Going forward, I am going to focus on international students and specifically how to navigate the process.
Part 1: Application

A. Undergraduate (Bachelor Degrees)

France is a very interesting country. Applications are usually routed through “Campus France”

“Campus France is a public institution in charge of promoting French higher education abroad and welcoming foreign students...
... and researchers to France. It encourages international mobility and manages scholarship programmes and the alumni network.”

They have a listing the Bachelor's, Master's and Doctoral degrees, and the programmes provided in English in France.

https://www.campusfrance.org/en/Campus%20France-missions
Here is a list of programs taught in English: http://taughtie.campusfrance.org/tiesearch/#/catalog

Now that you know about Campus France. All you need to do is to search @Google for the @CampusFrance unit in your country and go to the apply section.

See that of Nigeria: https://www.nigeria.campusfrance.org/welcome-to-campus-france-nigeria
Typically, you either go through the @CampusFrance process or you apply directly to the university (when allowed) but the bottom line is that you need to identify if the school actually offers the course.

You can do quick Google search of “XYZ University Your Course Admissions”
Courtesy http://educations.com , Typically, the application materials majorly include:

1. A Campus France authorization
2. A copy of your passport
3. A passport sized photo of yourself
4 Copies of past exam transcripts and graduation diplomas
5. A copy of your European health card (for EU students)
6. A cover letter
7. French and/or English proof of language proficiency
8. Proof that you have the financial resources to fund your stay in France

NB: @CampusFrance may charge a fee, https://www.nigeria.campusfrance.org/student-visa-process

The interesting part is that up until this point, the process is same for both undergraduate and graduate degree applicants.

For graduate degree applicants, you should have your Bachelor certificates/transcripts.
Kindly note that you can either study in a program taught in English or French. For either, you need to prove that you are proficient in the language of instruction. This is where standardized testing does the work.

Except the Campus France fees, you do not need to spend on...
...application fees. Plus, you can also decide to skip the @CampusFrance process and contact the university directly for application.

However, if reside in one of the countries affected by the "Etudes en France" (Studying in France) procedure must make a specific request for...
... enrolment in an institute of higher education. That is @CampusFrance is required. See list of countries: https://www.campusfrance.org/en/application-etudes-en-france-procedure

Remember, find all schools here: https://www.4icu.org/fr/ .

Now, let us talk more specifically about Graduate Degrees in France.
B. Graduate (Master or Doctoral Degrees)

Find Master Degrees France: https://cataloguelm.campusfrance.org/master/#/catalog

Find Doctoral Programs in France:
https://doctorat.campusfrance.org/en/phd/dschools/main

Once you identify your course of study, you will find the “offers” I.e schools/programs with that program with contact info.
I think this is the best way however, you can always target a particular university by referral. That works too.

However, check the application requirements especially any certification required through @CampusFrance in your current location. This is very important.
Through this links, you can find out if the universities have any funding for the masters/ doctoral programs.

Typically, application fees are not required by individual universities so do not fret.

Typical program duration:

Masters: 2 years
Doctorate: 3 - 6 years
Application Deadlines are Typical:

“For the fall admission: January 17th or April 1st, depending on degree type and other factors (in some cases, after this date as well, based on the available spaces) For the spring admission: September 15th, and after this date, based...
... on the available spaces.”

@CampusFrance has provisional timelines for you. Also, they assist for Visa Applications.

By now, you should know that if you have any questions, U should feel free to ask your @CampusFrance contact or email the program coordinator on the university’s page. Now, that we have talked about the progress, let us talk money.
