It is increasingly obvious that the 1877 compromise, in which military occupation of Southern states was abandoned and Democrats allowed to take control again, was one of the greatest political mistakes in history.
After the civil war, the United States had two options: punishment of the criminal racist gang known as the Democrat Party or reconciliation. It took the wrong course.
While a black elite had been associated to power in the South in the 1870s, after 1877 it was systematically driven out by Democrat thugs. They then proceeded to put in place the first systematically racist, one-party regime in history.
While nominally democratic, the South, for more than 80 years, was in reality a corrupt dictatorship, based on racial hysteria, institutionalised voting fraud, and physical violence.
These three pillars remain the basic m.o of the Democrat Party to this day. Instead of Jim Crow, the Ku Klux Klan and stuffed ballot boxes, we now have critical racial theory, Antifa / Black Lives Matter... and stuffed ballot boxes.
None of this would have happened if, in 1877, the United States had chosen a more humane approach to the Democrat problem: a large trial, Nuremberg style - just with a far larger use of gallows.
Because Americans didn't dare to use massive punishment on Democrat criminality, that filth was left to flourish, to destroy the lives of millions - and then to spill over from the South into the U.S as a whole.
And here we are today, with a Democrat Party still pursuing its dream of a one-party state relying on systematic voter fraud and physical violence - and closer than ever to achieving it once and for all.
