You’ve never heard of Richard Pilger, and that’s probably how he prefers it. He is a textbook career civil servant whose politics are as indiscernible as they are irrelevant to his job. Tonight, after a weekend licking his wounds, the President succeeded in pressuring AG Barr to release a memo directing DOJ to investigate unsubstantiated allegations of voter fraud. Promptly following the release of Barr’s memo, a well respected civil servant resigned
You should care because Richard Pilger’s resignation means that something has gone VERY wrong. Pilger is a bureaucrat’s bureaucrat. He does NOT make policy. If he thinks he is being asked to do something that violates his conscience, that is because HE IS.
The election outcome is clear, but the future of DOJ is not. We cannot let a man like Richard Pilger resign without a fight.

He is the canary in the coal mine.
