The McCarrick Report will come out tomorrow.

It might not address your questions.

If that happens, some will urge you to the barricades, so to speak. But revolutions begin with revolt.

The challenge is to integrate disappointment into the life of grace and the way of faith.
That doesn’t mean one shouldn’t express disappointment, continue to press for answers, continue to look for answers, continue to call for answers. If warranted, we should all do that.

But we have to remember that Satan would like to turn anger into “non serviam.”

Be watchful.
And when people start talking about “not trusting any bishop” or “not obeying the pope,” or “throwing out every bishop,” just take a moment, even if that rhetoric satisfies the passions, to ask who benefits from fanning enmity between Christians.
If you know me, you know I’m not calling for docile obsequiousness. I’m saying that when we call for ecclesial reform, the devil wants to tempt us to throw out the faith with the bathwater. And he’s cunning.

So we have to stay rooted in the Holy Spirit.
