A few theories on what is happening right now:
1. Trump truly is too much of a threat that Elites can't afford to run out the clock to 2024...

2. Elites are too incompetent to realize Trump is begine to their agenda, so they try to steal 2020...

3. Create fraud so obvious that they either:
a: Get away with it, provoking potential RW backlash they can use to justify massive crackdowns on dissidents while in power...
b: Get caught and ultimately lose via courts, way makes it seem like Trump stole the election. Keeping their activists violent and prompting more unrest.
Am I missing any other theories?

Personally leaning towards 3a as most likely what's taking place.
