THREAD OF MY TOP 25 ALBUMS OF THE 2010s

This last decade has had some phenomenal releases and so much variety in music unlike any other time. It’s hard to narrow down to only 25 so I definitely missed a lot but let me know what you think was missed or what you agree with
HMs: American Love Call, Tetsuo & Youth, Better off Dead, Teens of Denial, Melodrama, A Seat at the Table, Yes Lawd!, Tana Talk 3, Ego Death, IGOR, IDLSIDGO, CLPPNG, 99.9%, Rodeo, 21, Pure Comedy, ...Like Clockwork

13. PJ Harvey - Let England Shake
12. Blood Orange - Negro Swan
11. Frank Ocean - Blonde
10. The Roots - Undun
9. FKA Twigs - MAGDALENE

A beautiful and personal album where FKA Twigs challenged herself both thematically and sonically to produce one of the most forward thinking albums of the decade
8. Fleet Foxes - Helplessness Blues

A very tame and peaceful album with a surprising amount of depth compared to their debut. This project definitely is one that grew on me over the years and it’s the best folk had to offer in the 2010s.
7. Flying Lotus - Cosmogramma

An experimental jazz-infused electronic adventure through the crazy mind of Flying Lotus. It ranges from peaceful and beautiful to an chaotic collection of noises and instruments arranged in a very precise manner.
6. Gorillaz - Plastic Beach

A loose concept with a surprising amount of meaning and ingenuity. As the album continues it becomes more synthesized and artificial almost as if it represents the increasingly problematic state of our environment.
5. Kendrick Lamar - To Pimp a Butterfly

One of most socially conscious and impactful album of the 2010s, TPAB contains pristine jazz instrumentals and a creative concept that blends together to form a timeless masterpiece that’ll be recognized as such for generations to come.
4. Thundercat - Drunk

A very personal favorite, Drunk is an aesthetic driven trip through the head of Thundercat with a wide variety of songs that make for a very cohesive and enjoyable listen from front to back.
3. Danny Brown - Atrocity Exhibition

Atrocity Exhibition is a dark, disturbing view into the chaotic mess that is Danny’s mind. The beats on the album are like nothing else to have ever come out and it remains ahead of its time even 4 years later.
2. Janelle Monáe - The ArchAndroid

An excellent representation of mixing fictional storytelling and concepts to represent real life issues regarding sexuality and freedom that people struggle through everyday. The funky, natural production gives it a timeless and stunning sound.
1. Big K.R.I.T. - 4Eva is a Mighty Long Time

A double sided masterpiece concept that is told beautiful through thoughtful lyrics and dense production with a southern flare reminiscent of all those who came before K.R.I.T. while retaining his own musical identity.
