I'm starting to see poor thinking seeping in already, a lot of people saying things like "the Democrats nominated a moderate instead of a progressive", as if some party elites did this in a smoke-filled back room. As a reminder, progressives ran and lost in a primary.

I say this as an enthusiastic Warren supporter who thinks she would have been a great candidate and president. But the truth of the matter is the voters didn't choose her. Not the party elites. Failure to accept this isn't helping efforts to fix this.

It's easier to tell a story about how some shadowy elite is foisting undesireable candidates on us, because the alternative — we didn't win voters over to our views — suggests that more work needs doing. And people are naturally lazy.
