NEW: PA House GOP now demand they get to lead an “audit” of the vote, refuse to authorize Biden as winner of PA if their demands aren’t met. If they do get an audit and delay it past Dec. 14, it throws PA’s electoral votes into chaos. The system breaks down if this goes forward.
PA law dictates the popular vote winner gets the 20 electoral votes; it also dictates that the Secretary of State and Governor certify that winner, not the Legislature. Conservatives have been complaining of late changes to the election code but now want this dramatic change.
Either way, this kind of rhetoric is terrible for the peaceful transition of power and stability, and requires all of us to stay vigilant and speak loudly about its corruption of our democracy. The Democratic Party did not do this to Trump.
