As the governing body for Rugby League in Canada, our name has been mentioned in the news lately, and we wanted to confirm or deny a few things recently reported regarding @TOwolfpack being refused re-entry to @SuperLeague and our role...
... though we have had disagreements in past with @TOwolfpack (as publicly stated) we were proudly behind their attempt to be allowed back into @SuperLeague and wrote to @TheRFL and @SuperLeague stating our support
We heard back from @TheRFL , but never received a response or any communication from @SuperLeague - or on their North American rugby league assessment...
We assisted the @TOwolfpack in their proposal by sharing our strategic plan for growth of the sport in Canada, and the growth that has occurred in the last few years thanks to the @TOwolfpack
We were extremely disappointed by the short term outlook on the sport in Canada as discussed by @SuperLeague and feel the decision did not recognize the growth to date...
We will continue to work towards growing Rugby League in Canada, and wholeheartedly thank the effort of @TOwolfpack staff and fans to keep the team in Toronto. We wish they would have been given a fair hearing - with a data-driven assessment of the sport and its potential in
