Believing the news or not is entirely up to you. I’m here to give you my insights and where I stand regarding this report.

Recap: It is completely true that Barça could, once again, go for Memphis Depay in January. After all, he is Koeman’s request and the coach would love to have him in his team. They were close to signing him in the last window but weren’t able to, due to La Liga.

I have my doubts regarding the reliability of this report, despite the journalist being quite reliable. This is because the club would still have to sell before getting Depay. At the moment, nobody knows whether players like Braithwaite or Dembele will be sold in January.

Barcelona had to sell a player (Dembele) before getting Depay in the last window. Many sources had reported that the deal will go through and Depay will become a Barça player, but the deal never went through because Barça weren’t able to sell the player.

At the moment, it is too early to comment on whether Depay will become a Barcelona player in January, but obviously I’m not ruling anything out just yet. There is still plenty of time for the January Transfer Window to open. Barça would first have to sell before getting him.

If Barça are able to sell players first, then I’m sure they will be able to get him in January. But keep in mind that Barça’s financial situation isn’t the best right now, and obviously the elections (whose dates are still yet to be known)...
