Of the cis women who complain about gender-inclusive language around menstruation and childbirth, i'd ask:
- can you accurately check off your gender on medical forms?
- can you accurately check off a box on your kid's forms that describes your relationship to them?
- can you be out about your gender with your doctor?
- has your gender + menstruation/pregnancy status ever confused a doctor?
- do you need to ready yourself pre-doctor's visit to educate your doctor on gender-related issues?
- do you worry you'll receive markedly worse care or be denied care because of your gender?
- are you regularly misgendered while accessing healthcare?
- do you sometimes avoid accessing healthcare because of anxiety about being misgendered, treated poorly, dismissed?
