As part of the original application for Buckton Fields, the developers put some space aside for a "Park & Ride" and S106 payments agreed, both towards bus transport generally and to the Park & Ride specifically. (1/)
Now, a few years later, there's an allocation to change the use of this land and, instead of the Park & Ride, to build another 85 houses instead. The application says that @mycountycouncil are happy with this because they don't want a Park & Ride there any more (2/)
There's no indication that @mycountycouncil, which lest we forget, will cease to exist in 7 months anyway, has any plans to consider Park & Ride anywhere else in Northampton (I think we know that answer) (3/)

That's right. The proposal is to use this S106 money towards building the North West Relief Road, so instead of using the money for a scheme that will take cars off the road in Kingsthorpe, they want to use it towards a scheme that will dump thousands of cars there daily (5/)
I'm going to register a protest against this change of use, but if it must happen, then I think the S106 money should be ringfenced to upgrade the NCN Route 6, which runs alongside the Welford Road, and is sorely in need of some attention (6/)
At least that way, the S106 money will still be going towards sustainable transport rather than the building of just another road. Judge these councils by their actions, not by their words. (7/)
