independent contractors are NOT protected like employees are under their employers. this means lack of job protection & benefits, + puts marginalized grps protected under employment laws at risk
if you have the choice when being employed to be an independent contractor or an employee ALWAYS choose employee — they don’t tell u this bc they don’t want to protect u.
