As someone who only came to terms with my own queerness later in life, largely thanks to the #SPNFamily, I have learned a lot from this community about how important inclusivity is.
That’s why I want to talk about how we label Cas.
The show has gone to great pains to establish that angels are genderless (for example in Lily Sunder). Yes Cas is in a male vessel but he has chosen a female one in the past. I think it’s clear his love for Dean is not constrained by gender.
There are also people who see Cas as asexual, which is a completely valid perspective. The Supernatural fandom is all about acceptance of different gender and sexual identities - how magical is it that we’ve been gifted a gloriously queer love story!
So let’s be as inclusive as possible when we label it - the word queer is very inclusive! Let’s fit as many people under this happy queer umbrella as we can. I think Cas would be proud.
