With all the talk about Joe Biden bringing the first rescue dog to the White House - Casey wanted to know how many cats have lived at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue!

Good Question, Casey!
Abraham Lincoln loved cats! His cat, Tabby not only lived in the White House, he reportedly participated in White House dinners where he was fed with a gold fork! (Photoshopped pic for your enjoyment đŸ˜č)
Rutherford B. Hayes owned the 1st Siamese cat to reach the United States. Her name was Siam. She was allowed to roam the White House, where she loved to stage “grand entrances” when guests were being entertained. (Perhaps, President Hayes is hiding a lil kitten in his coat here!)
Theodore Roosevelt had all sorts of pets at the White House including two cats - Slippers & Tom Quartz. Slippers often fell asleep sprawled out in hallways.
Calvin Coolidge was also a cat lover! He had Smokey, Blackie, Timmy and Tiger. Tiger, a gray-striped stray, traveled around the White House around the President's neck! đŸ˜»đŸ˜čđŸ˜»
“Life is better with TWO cats!” Woodrow Wilson told the crowd. Ok, I made that up. But he had two cats in the White House - Mittens and Puffins!
John F. Kennedy’s kids brought Tom Kitten to the White House - seen here with the First Lady’s Press Secretary. He was described as “a cat of undetermined age and dubious background.” (Doesn’t he look THRILLED at his photo opp?!)
Gerald Ford had a Siamese cat named Shan Shein. She was named after a city in China. How do you like that @Kodak film?!?
Jimmy Carter’s daughter Susan had a cat named Misty Malarky Ying Yang; also a Siamese that lived with her in the White House.
Bill Clinton’s cat Socks was pretty popular! The handsome 'tuxedo' cat had well-publicized feuds with Buddy, the family’s Labrador retriever, whom he reportedly despised from the day he first met him. đŸ˜čđŸ˜čđŸ˜č
The last President to have cats in the White House was George W. Bush. He had India “Willie” Bush, Ernie and Cowboy. God Bless Ameowica!! đŸ˜»đŸ˜»đŸ˜»(Willie is pictured here)
