totally understand if you missed the Yankees MiLB affiliation shuffle from this weekend, but just know that it is very much the tip of the iceberg and this is just the beginning for a complete overhaul of what MiLB is gonna look like in 2021 and beyond https://twitter.com/KyleAGlaser/status/1325149900686782466?s=20
teams like Staten Island being blindsided goes to show how teams are going to ruthlessly pursue the MiLB reshuffling with their own (largely financial) interests in mind. sure, this process was already set in motion pre-pandemic, but its accelerated pace is going to be brutal
sorry to be a bummer but we love MiLB and have been thinking about this a lot. it's going to suck to watch and I feel horrible for all the MiLB communities that end up being shut out -- especially those that don't even get the courtesy of knowing their fate before it goes public
and beyond the obvious emotional and real-life fallout for these MiLB communities, think about the ramifications of just ONE team announcing its affiliations. a true Pandora's box of logistical/structural questions

(can you tell I've been thinking about this?)
hadn't seen this @ballparkdigest report from last week, but it does appear to be a helpful guide for how A-ball might look. obviously SO MUCH is gonna change between now and next season, it's silly to count on any of these details, but still worth a read:

here's another hint as to where some of the east coast MiLB leagues are heading:

Brooklyn promoted to full-season ball, Florida State League St. Lucie moving down to Low-A, Low-A Columbia (another South Atlantic League team like Charleston) pushed out https://twitter.com/AnthonyDiComo/status/1326238263917629440
and here's Aberdeen, another NYPL short-season team, preparing to move up to full-season ball, which likely means either Bowie or Frederick is getting squeezed out of the Orioles full-season picture (assuming AAA Norfolk stays as is) https://twitter.com/NathanSRuiz/status/1326178294954401794?s=20
