Today marks the 82-year anniversary of Germany's November Pogroms, also known as #Reichspogromnacht, when thousands of Synagogues and Jewish-owned establishments were damaged or destroyed, and dozens of people were murdered. 1/4
Many will know that our school's name belonged to a successful chain of Jewish-owned department stores, the Hermann Tietz Warenhäuser, founded by Oskar Tietz with the support of his uncle. 2/4
In 1933, the company was 'aryanised' and the Tietz family was dispossessed of their assets. This means Hertie stores weren't targeted during the night of the pogrom.

The violence and anti-Semitism of the Nazi regime is something we should never forget. 3/4
This summer, we installed a timeline on campus to ensure the Tietz family name and our own history is better known within our community. All of us must work together to stand up against the troubling rise of anti-Semitism here in Germany and around the world. #NeverAgain 4/4
