The Democrats want to see Trump as some sort of horrible aberration and ignore the underlying issues that led to his rise. This win will be made out to be comfortable (it isn't), a vindication of complacency and middle-of-the-road inaction. Totally the wrong conclusion to draw.
If the Republicans could find someone willing to go a bit more economic left-populist and who is more organised and less chaotic than Trump, but rattles the 'coastal elites versus the little guy' sabre effectively, they could win big. Their class coalition is potentially massive
White working class in the Mid West/South plus socially conservative Latinos/African Americans plus younger voters sick of woke nonsense plus comfortable but conservative suburbanites. Could hammer Silicon Valley plus Wall St plus universities plus core minority vote
