My disabled, elderly grandma who can’t drive and lives alone gets $30 a month in food stamps. So fuck yalls hot takes on when and where and how ppl should buy and eat food. Five of us in one house making ends meet off $120 a month when i was growing up. Y’all ridiculous.
ON TOP OF THE FACT that poverty in itself is a cycle. Me and my aunts all tryna finally make shit work out for us at 30+ which means making sure our mom/granny has food and bills paid at home which means a part of our incomes has to go to her to make sure she can live.
Y’all have never ever seen REAL poverty, hell even poverty in the US ain like poverty in other countries but y’all can not be this dense to think that Keke Palmer has any grounds to her dumb ass arguments lol
Food is expensive and it doesn’t HAVE to be. Food stamps don’t matter when no one has a car in your neighborhood, Ubers and lyfts won’t come to your side of town, and the closest grocery store is 10+ miles away.
All the “urban farming” in the world cannot feed entire neighborhoods full of poor people. a lot of the worst hot takes ain’t even coming from celebs, they coming from y’all regular shmegular asses who grew up never missing shit &think that bologna sammiches are a struggle meal.
SC and NM both have over 30% of their population being food insecure. The majority of that percentage are Black and Brown kids. 30% of entire states populations can’t get ANY food but y’all wanna tell ppl to eat an apple lmao
Y’all truly are insufferable and make my ass itch.
It’s the fact that when the fuck ass government did increase food stamps in this pandemic, that shit was the first time families could actually afford to fill they fridges up. y’all wanna tell them to go buy perishable shit, when they know they won’t get this extra money forever.
And look, i never wanna “glorify the struggle” but got DAMN y’all are so out of touch wit your own folks it’s sad. Imagine someone only a paycheck away from being evicted telling someone on food stamps how to shop for groceries.
Oh and yes, farmers markets DO double up on EBT Bucks, BUT HOW MANY POOR BLACK AND BROWN PPL DO YOU SEE WHEN YOU GO TO THE FARMERS MARKETS HM?!
Most people do not live in areas near by farmers markets, and don’t feel comfortable shopping at farmers markets. Period. I know a lot of y’all live in big cities now a days but the average person is in a rural area, or again- has no means of transportation.
Oh and then urban farms. Okay so....most of the time- it’s white folk coming into poor black and brown neighborhoods policing them on how to eat. And even then! You got the CITY ITSELF fighting against these urban farms!!! FFF in Charleston has been experiencing this for years
It’s easier to push black and brown ppl out of their neighborhoods when they don’t have no where to go get fucking food except for churches chicken and the dollar store.
Whatever man I’m ranting now. Bye.
