This is the story of how a Captain America shield, complete with 150 lb force magnet, became the Supporters' Shield.
I'm told the true, forged by the supporters Shield didn't arrive from LA in time, so the @PhilaUnion got creative.

They were about to get a 16-inch pizza tray covered with a vinyl sticker when someone said, "Well, I do know a guy with a shield..."
Turns out the web manager's fiancee's sister's boyfriend is the proud owner of a full Captain America costume. We're not talking Halloween. Legit.

His name is Jeremy. He lives in Medford, which is quite literally Brenden Aaronson's hometown.
He told the Union he wasn't a sports fan but it sounded like a cool idea. The team drove to Medford, got the shield and used a heat gun to put the vinyl Supporters' Shield over top.

The magnet on the back -- powerful enough for it to stick and hold to the back of the costume, like I said LEGIT -- was so strong the heat guns got stuck to it during the process of applying the vinyl.
End result? F#%&ING AWESOME.

I just keep reading "web manager's fiancee's sister's boyfriend" back over and over and over. I love this league.
