I don't think it's shocking that if you tell middle & working class people you'll support thier families & not suck the teet of big captial & not do it's bidding, that you'll win their votes. But this isn't a political strategy, it's a marketing one. How are you going to deliver?
It's not enough to say "I'll say the right things". Saying the right things is easy. Every politician says the right things to get support from their slice of electorate. But an actual Marxist analysis involves reckoning with contradictions not just pretending they don't exist.
I didn't spend 3 years reckoning with fuckery of the left to pretend that abandoning it nominally, is to abandon the class interests it serves. All bourgeois parties reckon with the interests of capital first & foremost. The voting base, the coalition, is downstream from that.
The fact that you can persuade working people to vote for you isn't admirable if you're not capable of doing dick for them. Simply not being as deranged and elitist as the left isn't exactly prizeworthy. The left are a joke. But so is anyone who pretends politics = marketing.
Oh look the left is a joke, of course they can't persuade working people to go for them bla bla WE KNOW. That wasn't their political function. They're errand boys & jannies for the DNC. They know not what they do. Their real mission was coalesce woke new highly educated dem base.
And they've been extremely successful at that, which is why they're all welcome in elite dem circles, and why any day now more and more of them will be handed the reigns of actual party. This is because they serve the interests of knowledge economy capital the party represents.
But the fact that you're not a woketard who knows how to appeal to normal people is child's play. So what? Which fractions of capital are you serving? How are you wrangling anything out of them for working people?
The bullshit lies of the left might be egregious, but political promises of a non-leftist party that might ACTUALLY appeal to working people, would be even more worthy of scrutiny than ridiculous pretentions of the left, precisely because they wouldn't self select for rich morons
