I just read a YouTube comment where a woman explained just how depressed she’s been, how unpredictable her period is, painful cramps, acne etc for 6yrs due to the nexplanon implant.. but ended with “but at least I’m not pregnant right?” and honestly broke my heart.
That is the reality for so many women. Another girl said that the implant made her period irregular and her doc put her on low dosage bc pills to “regulate” it. She ended with “I don’t think it’s healthy to be on two birth controls at once but
“
THIS IS A PROBLEM.

THIS IS A PROBLEM.
Globally, women are fighting through the craziest symptoms daily.. every single month.. but will put up with it because fighting through that is better than being pregnant. And I get that.. BELIEVE ME. My issue is that these SYNTHETIC drugs are not the only way to dodge pregnancy
And my biggest issue is not with women that want help and listen to their doctor. My issue is with western medicine and pharmaceutical companies that put the health of millions of women at risk for profit without informed consent.
My issue is with education in the medical field. The fact that even when you want to prevent pregnancy naturally, you don’t receive support from your doctor because they have no clue how that works. They don’t know about cervical position, temp changes, or cervical fluid. HOW???
How do you have permission to administer a drug to me that’ll completely disrupt my natural process... and you have no idea how that natural process even works. How is that fair to the patient?!
Lab made hormones are not the same as the hormones that your body naturally produces. Let’s cut the bullshit and stop telling women that.
I’m just.. it just makes me feel like I don’t know where to start. There’s so many layers. That’s why I need to go 1000x harder in body literacy for women.. That’s where it starts. We don’t know, so we go to “experts” to help. We don’t think preventing pregnancy is possible.
We don’t know why we have to call out during our period, or why we keep breaking out, or why we feel nauseous, or why we have two periods a month, or why it lasts 10 days, or why it’s brown blood, or why it only comes twice a year.. so when we hear a solution we thank God for it.
Without receiving the knowledge about possible depression, weight gain, decrease in bone density, loss of libido, stroke, blood clots, death, clit shrinkage, cysts, cancer, infertility etc etc. But the side effects range and are different for everyone. Some don’t feel any at all
But even when you think you feel fine and experience no side effects, how do you really know? How much of these possibilities were listed for you when you first started?
I believe when women are knowledgeable about how our reproductive system works and the signs we receive during a healthy cycle, it gives us our power back. We’ll know what’s normal and what’s not, what tests to ask for, what vitamins we need to supplement, what foods to eat/avoid
We’ll know why one week we’re super motivated and the next we just want to lay around. We’re not paranoid about getting pregnant after every encounter cause we’ll know when it’s possible and when it’s not. We won’t look at cervical fluid during fertile week and call it discharge
