Just got feedback from a recent talk I gave. Overall it was good, but a few things that give me pause.

White people desperately want to be told what to do when it comes to race, but anti racism work cannot be distilled down to a check list. Duh, that's whiteness. No.
Risk taking to become anti racist is truly scary to the well meaning white folks.

Also learned that people don't understand why I put them in breakout groups.
People really think that can hire us people of color to help them check off the "I'm a better white, than you" list.

Guess that's what some of the people of color do, read my book and do my work sheet, and you too can be a better white.

No, that's my work.
You will never be better, at best, you are in a daily struggle to not succumb to your internal whiteness.
This election was a reminder of just how much work white folks have to do, if they want to be anti racist.

Understand your legacy, feel the pain of what has been done to both BIPOC folks and white folx.

You can't be an anti racist w/no understanding of how race impacts whites
