WNYC is doing this fascinating series on how the GOP/Right/Conservatives in the United States have been usurping elections by breaking the law without consequence, cheating, subterfuge, voter suppression...
...psychological warfare (convincing the opposition, particularly the marginalized, that their votes don't matter), imposing rules to recruit conservative staff and weed out liberal or progressive staff from municipal positions, stacking courts, terrorism, and violence.
It's fascinating how open they've been about this, about how their clearly stated goal is to prevent as many marginalized people from voting as possible by any means necessary...
...and how passive Democrats (outside of Black people, primarily Black women) have been about stopping the horror dead in its tracks.
You can see this now with how the cult is responding to its cult leader's loss. They went from "Stop the count!" to "Count the votes!" to "Count the legal votes!" (by "legal votes" they mean "whatever votes count only for Trump")...
...to showing up with guns at marches and voting tallying places, pivoting based on whatever intimidation-disguised-as-protest they thought would ensure their cult leader stole the election they feel he's entitled to.
(They tried to play games in D.C. and they got shown real quick what it means when folks say "Don't start none, won't be none.)
And they feel entitled because although whiteness is actually flimsy, composed of mediocrity, fear, and ignorance, its most effective power is deceiving those who ascribe to it into thinking that it is strong and represents excellence, courage, and wisdom.
They know he lost fair and square, but they have to paint his loss as the result of conspiracy and fraud (rather than the result of his piss-poor and frankly sociopathic performance) in order to justify--to themselves if no one else--
--the horror they're prepared to unleash, in the name of some Christian god who loves whiteness, property, r*pe, genocide, and money, to ensure the United States remains an openly and unabashed far-right and white fascist state.
And the reason why they think they will succeed in overturning the election is because they perceive Democrats as weak. And Democrats, the centrists that most of them are, rather think of themselves as conciliatory and civil, which are five-dollar words for cowardly and craven.
The Republicans: Always bringing nuclear bombs to treaty signings.
The Democrats: Always bringing handshakes to declarations of war.
And always, always: It's the Black and Indigenous who suffer most, caught in the middle of the great and endless battle of white pathologies.

They are never going to give up. In the Bizarro universe they live in, evil is good and injustice is justice.
Stop calling them "the GOP/Conservatives/The Right" and CALL THEM BY THEIR NAME, family: The Ku Klux Klan.
