I still feel like talking about this so brace yourselves, kinda long thread ahead.
You all should know I am not into Mass Effect and such but a lot of close friends and mutuals do and it grew on me, so when at N7 they finally got the remaster they were so hyped for I was SO HAPPY

And I thought: what a joyful day for the fans! And just hoped the news made everyone smile and feel the hype for the date. I got curiouser so I clicked on 2 trailers of the news and... that's when it all went downhill

The top comment I read in BOTH posts was negative. Which got me a bit mad, like "my friends had been waiting for this for so long and they were always so nice about it... and the first external thing I get to see is THIS negative??"
Well, actually I got even madder over time

One of the comments was like "uh, I would only buy this if they fix that shitty ME3 ending" and "after Andromeda and Anthem, BW has to meet my trust"

omg how can ppl be so... mean to crap on a happy date with their OWN issues?

I have heard a lot of ppl are unhappy with ME3 ending and I think I have an idea why but to come to this point, where someone DEMANDS to have it FIXED?
Look, it may be unpleasant or a weird move from the writers but it's NOT broken. There's NO need to *fix* ANYTHING

And the whole "they have to earn my trust"... Look, no one cares about you, rando. No one. And, besides, if you don't like smth THAT much... why do you give your time and money to it??? If Mass Effect angers you this much, STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM IT

"but I REALLY like ME, ME2 and most of ME3" well, if your love for the games isn't stronger than the bitterness you feel over some parts of them, you don't like them THAT much. Also, if it is so, then just play those and stop where you don't like them anymore AND LEAVE THEM JFC

Anyway the other comment I saw which made my blood boil was smth along the lines of "as a gay man myself, I had been cheated on for not being able to romance Kaidan with a m!Shep" aaaaaaaaand honestly the need to slap him across the face was real, man, real

I am SO TIRED of people turning the blind eye on the blatant and constant heteronormativity of the majority of the products and instead throw their rage on little mistakes made by small, indie, independent creators who make inclusion a reality and are often LGBTQ+ themselves

Does it suck that in ME at least your m!Shep cannot have a gay romance? Sure it does. Is it a bit unfair a f!Shep can have a sapphic romance? It is indeed. HOWEVER that does not excuse ANYBODY to throw shade on BioWare for that since it'd be like throwing rocks to your own house

I cannot talk about ME romances and LGBTQ+ inclusion bc I don't know much about the possibilities in ME2/3/A but I know about DA and look, I am not going to let people shit on the hard work on inclusion BioWare has been doing since long ago. That's rude and ungrateful AS FUCK

BW made a bi character romanceable. That's. A LOT. ALREADY. FFS in DAO back in 2009 they made TWO BI OPTIONS and they doubled down in DA2 in 2012 making THE 4 ROMANCE OPTIONS BISEXUAL. F O U R canonically bisexual ppl in a videogame. Biphobia IS STILL A THING in 2020 jfc

content out of my fav media. For me to have been able to start DAI saying "my Inquisitor is a gay man" and having completed it with a fulfilling and soft gay romance is NUTS.
For me to have been able to start DA2 saying "my Hawke is a disaster bi" and having bedded BOTH

women and men (who were ALSO bi themselves) is still like "is this the real life? is this just fanta sea?" because, then again, I had been denied this content all my life. Even today, we get this content denied over and over. Which other games offer you this experience, even??

Look, you CAN complain your fave isn't romanceable as a gender. I understand ppl wanting to romance Garrus as a male or Cassandra as a female. I get it, I REALLY DO.
But saying you were cheated on? To a company which fought for inclusion and still does?
NOPE

Call cheated on to the ones who really deserve it: Call out creators who never risk adding anything remotely LGBTQ+ for the backlash they may receive. Call out compulsory heterosexuality. But don't throw your anger at a company with actual, living, breathing LGBTQ+ ppl working

at it who have not only told but SHOWN us that inclusion can be done and can be marketable. At the people who are aware that the majority of their sells are done by an audience they need to please, but also CHOOSE to please too the minority who actively creates content

And having said all this, please don't take this the wrong way. It is okay to complain about things and even better to make valid criticisms in order to make better products in the future. Both things are valid as personal opinions and criticisms, BUT

they were specifically and intentionally phrased in a way which was CLEARLY DEMANDING and ENTITLED and that's NOT IT, gurl. An opinion is yours and yours alone and you should understand no one is forced to share it and criticism should be unbiased and not throwing salt at things

you felt personally attacked on. So yeah, if you dislike ME3 ending or Andromeda, that's fine, you do you. But DON'T call them a mistake that needs to be fixed. That's so rude and so wrong. If you don't like something, move on but don't rain on everyone's parade, easy peasy

And if you feel ME has a clear lack of LGBT romance it's a valid criticism, it is indeed! Go on and make a post about it! But just don't say I COULDNT ROMANCE MY FAVE SO YOU SUCK. That's SO entitled and reeks SO much of "if I had been given that option and revoked the lesbian one
