1) Reflecting on a busy weekend and how all of a sudden we are parents of a teenager with Nat 5s coming up (or not). As an educator in HE, we spend significant time planning assessments and have adjusted quickly to remote teaching and covid.
2) My daughter is feeling the pressure of prelims with messages such as 'Well usually the prelims are really a practice before the exams in spring' from teachers. It feels like the focus has moved to these December high stake assessments rather than the end of year exams.
3) Raises the questions of why we still have these high stake exams and why we haven't used the current situation to clearly outline a continuous assessment plan which supports students over the year
4) This seems particularly sensible during times where young people may be ill, self isolating and having to deal with uncertainty on a number of levels. Am I missing a conversation somewhere?
