¾ of those on food aid are assisted by the Gov; the rest by NGOs. Escalation of conflict risks /I say "guarantees"/ a serious increase in these numbers.

Furthermore, Tigray is one of the worst-affected by desert locust with threats of new swarms arriving in the coming weeks. 2/
In a time & place of conflict, delivering essential aid to the poor becomes extremely difficult, if possible.

Already, says OCHA, round 6 relief food commodities that were due to be dispatched on 6 Nov, have been halted.

Unless the sides come to an agreement, more will be. 3/
My contempt for the TPLF is long known. I know they really pushed the Fed Gov over the last two years and now even more so. But I think I can safely assume that #Debretsion & @reda_getachew are not on the list of those who were awaiting the now-halted food relief commodities. 4/
So, yes, I am afraid!
But my fear is for the farmers in the conflict zones who will not be able to collect what's left of their harvest this year. My fear is that war will turn their plots into battlegrounds and their harvests, their sweat and toil into ashes muddied by blood. 5/
My heart aches for the poor fighters, militias, child-soldiers...who are at the forefront in times of war but are sent to the end of the line when the spoils are divided- if there will be any in our case. That's what my tweet from Day I says & that's why I retweet it every day 6/
That tweet is this:
ተስፋዬ በእግዚአብሔር ብቻ ነው።
አንተ የድሃ አምላክ እግዚአብሔር ፥ ማንም በእነርሱ ስም እንጂ (ስ)ለእነርሱ አይዋጋምና ፥ ለሞቱ እንጂ ለምርኮው ክፍፍል ከፊት አይሰለፉምና ፥ ደማቸው በከንቱ እንዳይፈስ ድሆችህን ጠብቃቸው።
