The parallels of @realDonaldTrump and @MattBevin are incredible.

Two bombastic businessmen who tore up traditions and rode right-wing populism to easy elections against Democrat opponents who enraged conservatives as much as they deflated the left.

While in office both men enjoyed total party control of their respective governments yet still tried mightily to bully their #GOP majorities into every single submission they had.

@realDonaldTrump obviously was better at that than @MattBevin, who still had rivals in the state.

In the end, their demise was due in part to a crisis ( @MattBevin with pensions and @realDonaldTrump with #COVID19) where they refused to act with even a decency required in politics because smashing the media, the libs and filling their ego cup mattered most.

Both brought down by more conciliatory Democrats who didn’t agitate conservatives as much as their previous opponents.

The left was also whipped into line due to fears of #Bevin or #Trump winning a second term.

Both @MattBevin or @realDonaldTrump regularly made outrageously false claims in public, and never once showed contrition even when confronted with basic facts or their own words.

The pugilist styles that got them in office got them out because in the end, the voters had enough.

And both have @Team_Mitch alums writing their political obituaries with punctuated, “I told you so” remarks.
