no matter what happens in the end, no one can tell me that dean didn't love cas in the same way. why?
1) after cas died, dean spent the first 5 episodes of s13 being sad, hopeless and borderline suicidal and as soon as cas came back he started smiling and was being all giddy.

2) it's literally canon that whenever dean and cas aren't together, wether it's bc cas died, or left, or they were fighting; dean starts drinking heavily on the job. which something he rarely does. there's evidence of this throughout seasons 7, 8, 13 and 15

3) he spends 90% of his time (especially in earlier seasons) looking for cas' nonexistent lips and it's quite frankly embarrassing
4) the way he worries when cas leaves and doesn't answer his calls. this happens a lot...
4) the way he couldn't handle the fact that cas let go to stay in purgatory so he subconsciously made up a story in his mind to make it seem like he was the one who failed
5) the mere fact that he keeps giving cas second chances even after cas (unintentionally) screwed them over so many times, messed with sam's head and always leaves. dean always takes him back which something he never does with others

9) whenever the angels or demons referred to cas as "dean's boyfriend" or something along those lines, or when monsters call cas his angel, he never denies it.
