Leaf collection for a leaf mould cage we are going to make during the week. Leaf mould is very useful for home made potting compost. Retweet if you want to know how to make it. We will add the instructions to this tweet.

I did also help when not filming! :-).
Leaf mould is really easy to make. Just stack up leaves, keep moist and fungi do the rest in a year or 3 depending on the toughness of the leaf. Shredding with a lawnmower speeds this up. We will make a leaf mould cage soon and tweet all about it on this thread.
Leaf mould can be made from the leaves of any deciduous tree. Zack is collecting leaves from our cherry blossom in the video above. Leaf mould can be used as a potting mix, soil conditioner or seed compost. Also it’s free!

A leaf of two halves.
Made by nature.
We finally made the leaf cage to make leaf mould this morning.. we used this grid/mesh we bought at the garden centre (about 3 meters by one meter) and joined the two ends by wrapping with wire like this... #leafmould #Sustainability
Sam preparing to make the leaf cage. We used a pliers, hammer, grid/mesh, 4 stakes, gardening wire, cable ties. #leafmould #sustainableGardening
We stood the frame on the ground and drove the stakes in at the corners (on the outside). #leafmould
We attached the mesh to the posts with 4 cable ties at each corner. #leafmould
The finished product. Now we will just pile the leaves in right to the top and leave them. They will be moist - this is ireland! :-). #leafmould
