Looking through QB Justin Fields performance vs. Rutgers. He was at his best.

Ohio St. is running a flood concept (vertical-deep out-flat) off of play-action. He fits the ball in a small window vs. soft Cov. 2.

One of the best TD throws of his career.
Love that they’re letting Fields do more multi-step progression reads.

This “Y Cross” concept is the same play that he threw a TD to Garrett Wilson vs. Nebraska.

You can tell a QB is going through a progression based on hips/feet. They move like the long hand on an old clock.
Rutgers tried to get physical w/the WRs on the perimeter to slow down the timing of concepts, but it didn’t work.

Fields was solid with remaining patient. Great example here. He knows that it’s Cov. 2. “Smash” front side w/a MOF splitter. The backside go is always open.
Whether it’s as a runner or as a passer, one of the best aspects that comes with Fields game is his dominance in the red zone (30 TDs / 1 INT - 2019). He seems to always cash in when the opportunities are presented.

That was once again on display on Saturday.
