One remarkable aspect of the Blue Homeland thesis is the belief that Turkey can convince Egypt, Israel and Lebanon to sign bilateral agreements on a shared EEZ and that it's just a matter of persuading them that a potential deal gives them more real estate. https://twitter.com/BAUDEGS/status/1324460727873228800
This in spite of:
a) really poor TR/Egy TR/Isr relations
b) all signs that Egypt/Israel/Cyprus are far along in coordinating on undersea explorations
c) fair amount of dialogue between Lebanon and Cyprus
d) vocal concerns about Turkey's aggressive behavior
In short, it's amazing that one would believe that regional actors would simply ignore Cyprus' existence (which is the basis of Blue Homeland) despite years of cooperation. All this in favor of a deal with a country most find threatening. Genuinely magical thinking.
