Update on PIF and their potential interest in Marseille.
Done some more digging and although club was on PIF's radar earlier in the year, I am told they were not prepared to pay more than 200 GBP due to pre-existing losses at the club. Frank McCourt has no desire to sell.
PIF source says they never seriously spoke to Marseille, but they did "initially explore options in Ligue 1, like any other major league, to see if value was present." Priority seemingly remains #NUFC & they only want to invest in one football club for now in current climate.
Source added PIF being kept updated on the case between Mike Ashley and the Premier League, but refused to confirm to what degree or if the takeover is still 'active'. Part of reason for that is even if case is won by MA there are other considerations before coming back to table.
These include the current financial climate, which PIF insist was not a "disingenuous" reason for withdrawing in the first place and whether the "stature or price" of the club changes by the time a takeover is worth revisiting and/or in a position to be approved.
