Every day from 8 am to 8 pm, 1.3 miles (2km) of this street has these barricades and signs telling car drivers to go 5mph. Suddenly you get kids learning to ride bikes and scooters...
You get a LOT of girls and women working out, far more than when they were forced to run or skate on our tiny sidewalks
People of all ages, backgrounds and abilities riding #bikenyc
People walking in small groups. This shouldn't be remarkable. But sidewalks in Jackson Heights are often just 4 feet wide, between gardens encroaching on one side and tree wells on the other. It's almost impossible to walk with a group. The open street is pro-family.
And of course, residents finding a place to socialize and get some fresh air without spreading coronavirus.

This whole thread is from two 25-minute walks in one afternoon. Anyone is welcome to come and see and experience this, any day. 5-8pm is peak hour. @communityboard3 is taking comments because a few sourpusses want to end this paradise.
