Richard Pierpoint's wiki page is remarkably detailed, probably because he played an active role in a significant part of Canadian history, fighting to help create the #Canada we know today: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_P
#onted #BlackHistoryMonth should be year 'round
#RemembranceDay
His @heritageminute sheds light on the hidden nature of #BlackHistory in #Canada:
This man was forced to North America as a slave and even when Canada refused to send him home, he helped organize a black company to repel the Americans in the War of 1812.
Well into his sixties he fought for #Canada again in the war of 1812, but #CanadaRemembers isn't for everyone, is it?
There is no evidence of his settlement or his profound impact on Canadian history here in @CentrWellington @wellingtncounty #RemembranceDay2020
Our school is generically named after the region, other schools after the white settlers who displaced Richard's original black settlement of veterans.
When can we stop having meetings where we talk about racism & change the name of CWDHS to Richard Pierpoint Secondary School?
