Let’s have an honest conversation about the bad habits you just can’t break. If you’ve been trying for *years* to break a bad habit, but have been unsuccessful, here’s a place you can start.

Sit back, I’ll ask you to go deep. 1/
Here’s the thing...If you are working for *years* to break a habit unsuccessfully, it’s because that “bad habit” is serving a purpose in your life.

...yes, it’s actually doing something you are getting value from at some level. 2/
Finding out what that purpose & function is of that habit, is key to resolving it.

All "bad" entrenched habits are like this - even procrastination, micromanaging, workaholism, etc. 3/
Personally, I don’t personally call any habits “bad” because even the most dysfunctional habits are usually people doing the best they can in the moment. They just might be lacking or struggling in a skill area of their life. 4/
The big takeaway -->

The *function* of your habit will tell you everything you need to know about where to jump in to resolve it.

The skills you need to build, and the things you need to work on, are all told to you by the purpose the habit serves in your life. 5/
So, if you’ve been struggling for *years* - know that these habits are serving a very strong function in your life…and if you can get to the bottom of what it’s doing for you, you can get to the places you need to intervene to resolve it. 6/
Find the function, and you can solve the problem...because once you know what the function is, you can begin to have more effective things serve that function, or address what’s fueling it. 7/
And that’s how you begin to break long-standing bad habits.

If you’ve got a few you’d really like to work on, take some time and really think it through from a different lens today...you just might make some breakthroughs. 8/fin
