A few people have asked about comparing flu cases with covid cases and the impact of the PCR test.

Short answer...the PCR test 'exaggerates' the problem of covid.

It is unusual to 'test' for things like this.

Drs use a stricter rule for flu cases based on actual symptoms.
A Doctor writes...

"It is a complete joke and utterly unscientific!"

"The only virus that they are widely testing for at the moment is Covid - I do not remember ever testing people for influenza virus, it was a clinical diagnoses. "
"I have heard nothing to suggest that any viral testing is being done for influenza virus in any great numbers. This means that if you only test for one virus and it is positive it is assumed that Covid is the cause, but...
...without acquiring negative tests for the tens of other respiratory viruses we have no idea if people are also positive for other viruses that could explain their symptoms and that in fact, they may be asymptomatic for Covid and symptomatic for another virus."
Furthermore the level of sensitivity used in the PCR test means that tiny levels of infection will produce a positive result and be classified as a case...when there are no symptoms and the individual is able to fend off the virus.

So...large numbers of covid 'cases' result.
Viral infections are not binary (got/not got). You may have a mild dose of the flu or a bad dose. Your partner may not seem to have the flu...but actually has it in such a 'small' way that they have no symptoms...if they were tested they would be positive...but they are OK.
In summary...

- if you test positive for covid you'll probably be OK...especially if you've been leading a healthy lifestyle
- the PCR test exaggerates the 'impact' of covid
- covid case stats are not comparable to flu cases.

We need a more balanced discussion of the evidence.
