Thread. The issue for America is that Trump is a grotesque manifestation of what a lot of the world sees America as anyway. Like Trump, America is a bullying, egotistical, self-righteous, self-centred, entitled, aggressive, confrontational, interfering, greedy force that
imposes its will on other nations for its own benefit. This is often dressed up as ‘saviour’ to the downtrodden and upholder of the democratic free world, but all too often they're very happy to ‘work’ with brutal and cruel dictators as long as they tow US line for the US gain.
When they don’t tow the line then we know they’re in trouble and don’t tend to last long.

Trump is America writ large with a big F you to everyone. In previous administrations this is done behind the cloak of diplomacy but with the same end goal in sight. Make no mistake the US
is a bloodthirsty consumer intent on maintaining world dominance through whatever means and that is with Biden, Trump or whoever. The main difference I see is that Trump, like Johnson and his ilk, here in the UK, has imploded the country in on itself causing hatred and division
not seen in a long time. So has Trump changed the US for the worse or has he been picking at the festering scab that was already there and it was better to ignore?
America, like the UK, has an image problem because it has journeyed so far down the road of chasing wealth
at the expense of foreign nations and the common man at home. To proliferate this approach, it has been necessary to divide the common man further to achieve these goals. This is an aged old tactic now taken to extremes. My hope is that a kinder, more tolerant politics is on the
horizon and we can begin to heal the wounds and protect the vulnerable and the planet through a social politics that strives to look after all, not just the wealthy minority. Alas I fear this will not happen as it is the egotistical who ‘rule’ the world and who are in league with
corporations to maximise profit at the expense of the people and the planet. Make no mistake I see Trump as a divisive and dangerous man to whom I wish good riddance, but my fear is with Trump gone we just move to a more veneered, gloss coated, possibly more deadly version, of
US foreign policy with the continued divisions they see at home.
I guess where I end up is that democracy 'we' in the UK and the US live in is a hollow facade that pretends to be something it is not, something that is not adequate to deliver the real change required to heal the
division we see in our nations and save the planet, but rather a political tool used for the purpose of creating division at expense of the majority for benefit of the few. Until we see this for what it is we are destined to repeat this cycle, but I won't be holding my breath.
