By virtue of being chosen as JB’s running mate & then JB subsequently winning, Kamala Harris is the next likely Democratic candidate for POTUS in either 2024 or 2028. She struggled to even get 5% amongst Democrats in the primaries so the GOP will fancy their chances against her.
So its not all doom and gloom for Republicans. They will likely hold the Senate. They now have a right-leaning Supreme Court. And if they pick the right candidate, Kamala Harris is eminently beatable in either 2024 or 2028.

Trump, in many ways, was a sui generis candidate. No other Republican candidate has his kind of celebrity. But its easy to forget that Biden is a sui generis candidate for the Democrats too. They dont have another candidate like him.
No other Democratic candidate in 2020 could have won back the Rust-Belt like he did imo. The GOP struggled to paint him as a radical bc he’s been a senator since 1973, a VP for 8yrs, he’s 78, a down-to-earth Mid-Westerner, the Democrats don't have another candidate like that atm.
So, in many ways, 2020 was a unique election, with two unique candidates. The Republicans don't have another candidate like Trump with his kind of celebrity & the Democrats don't have another candidate who the GOP will struggle to paint as a radical.
If the Democrats had gone with any other candidate but Biden I think Trump would have been beaten them & the Democrats don't have another Biden waiting in the wings but then again, the GOP don't have another Trump waiting in the wings either.
Got ppl in my mentions talking about Yang. Yang struggled to get even 4% in the Democratic primaries. If you think Yang is a serious proposition you are spending too much time online imo.
He’s the extremely online person’s candidate. Not a serious candidate for POTUS. Most Americans are not extremely online. I think less than 20% of Americans use Twitter for instance. Biden was the opposite of this, he was the least online person’s candidate.
