l. ron hubbard is the donald trump of science fiction, except he actually made money, and a lot of it
âthe way to make a lot of money is to start a presidential campaignâ âdonald trump probably (lbr in all likelihood)
string of failed ventures, stardom via media (science fiction vs. the apprentice), realization that one can make a lot of money exploiting a protected system, exploiting that system via an authoritarian regime based on lies, literal actual family separation and destruction
upon the eventual death or failure of the leader, second-in-commands ready to make up whatever tf narrative they need to maintain a veneer of âââprotecting societyâââ while actually instigating a litany of abuses
itâs not about the aliens or qanon... itâs about the very real practices and human suffering effected by individuals who dodge accountability, and even just consequences, on a massive scale ÂŻ\\_(ă)_/ÂŻ
anyway, watching leah reminiâs show has reaffirmed for me that scientologyâs writers of the future contest is not a thing we as a spec fic industry should ever condone or promote, bc itâs 100000000000% probable footage and promo of winners is used to sell scientology
and yeah, by the way, if you are new to the industry and donât already know, writers of the future (and the illustrator contest as well) is run by scientology!!! a thing that we as an industry have tiptoed around!!!!
I could swear sfwa made a statement recently about WOTF but I canât find it, was it another org?
Iâm particularly invested in learning about scientology bc (1) itâs local history (I pass the pasadena branch often), (2) itâs sff history, (3) people in the industry condoned l. ron hubbard, many of whom may still be involved or have influenced others, and
(4) people like l. ron hubbard still exist!!!! charismatic personalities are still very much a thing in the industry!!!!! listen weâve had one guy go this bad, we canât ever let another
