For those wondering the #Yankees absolutely hated the #SIPizzaRats name.
The rename of the team contest caused a lot of friction between the @SIYanks owners and the #Yankees. The problem wasn't renaming the team, but the choices.
One of the constant comments made by #Yankees #MiLB coaches and players the last 10 years has been how much better they were treated in Pulaski than by the @SIYanks.
The current @SIYanks ownership bought the team for $8.3 million in 2011, at the time team revenues were at it's highest. At present, the team has an estimated value is far lower, at max $4 mil after revenues of around $2 mil in 2019.
Stadium conditions in #StatenIsland have been less than ideal. The team has had a lot of issues properly maintaining the field and even the stadium lighting. @SIYanks
The bones of the stadium are still good but were not properly maintained. That directly led to one of the #Yankees top prospects missing most of the 2019 season after suffering an injury on the field. @SIYanks
On the public-facing side, the team has struggled at the box office once #NYC took the parking lots away, which was also a violation of the @SIYanks lease. In 2014, the team averaged 3,401 fans a game in announced attendance and 2,107 fans in actual attendance, a 62% show rate.
In 2019, the @SIYanks had an announced attendance of 1,848 fans a game that is a drop of 45.7% since 2014. I do not have actual attendance numbers for 2019 right now.
For those hoping for a soccer pitch to come to the #RCBBallpark for the @NYCosmos or another team. The stadium is not big enough, they would need to push back the OF wall about 20 feet for a soccer pitch to fit. It is possible in a future renovation. @SIYanks
