For folks in Portland- there seems to often be confusion about the things that happen once you've been released after being arrested. If you don't have an arraignment before you're released(most people) you will have an arraignment date on your release papers

Lots of people are given a "no complaint" on their charges. Which means you do not have an arraignment or further court dates. The email in the above tweet can confirm weather this is the case for your charges or you can call the NLG hotline 3/
If your charges are not dropped, the next step will be your arraignment. Don't panic! This is just when you will enter a plea of guilty or not guilty. This is also when you will be assigned a lawyer if you don't have one and can't afford one.

This is when you will then work with a lawyer on your defense. If you're assigned a public defender and don't like them, call the NLG and they may be able to help you find other representation.

And, as always, if you have any other questions about the process, your charges, etc call the NLG hotline. If no one answers, leave a voicemail. They will return your call!

And last thing! Please share this info here but also to your friends and AGs. We've found lots of folks have no idea that their charges have been no complainted or are confused about the arraignment vs trail stuff.
