Genuine question for anyone to weigh in on, for a long time I've worked with other sport scientists and helped them by writing analysis programs in R and Labview to do the heavy lifting then exported to Excel (with VBA embedded for data viz)

When I first started I kept everything in the labview executable, but the sport scientists (ranging from physiol to biomech to S&C) I was working with wanted to have more access to the data, so I switched the final reporting to Excel so they would have easier access 2/
Should I in fact have been gradually reducing their reliance on Excel by steadily dropping them further and further away from the final product, forcing them to take more ownership of the coding/analysis? Have I done them a disservice by feeding their Excel addiction?
