Just a couple hours left before the Permian-Odessa High game kicks off but wanted to say something real quick before things got going tonight.
This game has been one I always look forward to every year since I arrived in Odessa back in 2018. In my view, it displays some of the best things that the city has to offer and you can see the passion in people when they talk about this game.
This has been a challenging year for all of us and I know tonight's game will be very different than it has been in years past. That said, I'm grateful to still be working and covering something that means so much to so many people.
Just getting to this point was not a guarantee by any means and I'm glad that the student-athletes, coaches and everyone else behind the two teams are getting the opportunity to play.
So everyone, please be safe and be good to each other.
