Great when they do this. Bert Hardy tracked down his two famous ‘Glasgow urchins’ stepping off that famous kerb edge in their mature years and rephotographed them in the same position. Saw the newer pic years ago but never since...BH remains my fave reportage photographer. https://twitter.com/yourwullie/status/1309922148555919360
1/ Yes, I was thrilled when Bert agreed to write this Foreword for this book I did in 1986. It was one of a set of four I produced for the then BBC Hulton Picture Library, which became Hulton-Deutsch and is now Getty Images. The librarian was a chap called Bob Bright and he knew https://twitter.com/yourwullie/status/1324844308021846021
2/ Bert and made the approach for me. Bob told me about the new pic of the ‘urchins’, which I think had been pretty recently done - and he showed me the pic. Maybe Getty still have it? Btw, one of the greatest privileges of working in BBC HPL files (which didn’t half take some
3/ negotiating!) was being left alone to sift through original ‘Picture Post’ story packs (incl those never published) containing the contact sheets by Bert and (another of my favourites!) John Chillingworth. I’d suggest starting with Getty? The pic was shot for an anniversary.
