im just some painter but, feel like its hard to exaggerate the speed at which usonian politics has been accelerating. i remember when normal people wouldnt even use the terms “right” and “left”, u could get casual political analysis that didnt ever use these terms, very recently
especially at this moment its almost quaint imagining jon stewart at his desk on the daily show, even his heir colbert has been reduced to “sad clown” status, literally crying while the people he caricatured on his previous show are, in many ways (r0mney etc) on his side. bizarre
on top of all this the only people with any real theory about it, whether theyre right or wrong, are fringe weirdos on the outside of the bubble (hey). normal people can only explain all this by appealing to some form of pure madness thats inexplicably engulfed “half” the country
i talk to all different kinds of people. really. i make covert efforts to leave my bubble often. i may disagree with some neo-maoist guy but they have a narrative about whats happening, the causes, the factors, why, whats the solution. i may disagree but they have “a theory” [..]
but i really feel like the bite and tooth of it all has been taken out of normal people. i feel bad for them. youre here, youre a weird person, youre online, to some extent you thrive in this type of ideological chaos. but they dont. its just a storm to them, they have no idea.
i am enjoying it though, honestly. maybe a little bit more than i should. a small desk lamp, making images, i work from home next to a big field, empires, morality, theology, aesthetics, the zeitgeist, semiotics, theres a feeling of an impending historical shift that im ready for
its like, i used to do some public speaking, and u get nervous every time honestly, walking out in front of a ton of people. every time. but at a certain point the nervous energy flips over to excitement because its going to happen and theres nothing you can do about it. thats it
just cooking meat with my dog. news is on. stack of theology books i havent touched in a few days. kind of just waiting for history to, whats the quote, “remove her dress like a harlot”? sacred time, in a sense, socially, politically. any minute now. whats the tale on your end
