Yesterday was my last day at @BridgeMichigan! Humor me with a brief thread of gratitude.
I moved from LA to Lansing sight unseen (really) because I wanted to do enterprise reporting. This was my first full-time reporting job, and I’ll be forever grateful to @davidzeman5 and the rest of Bridge’s leadership for taking a chance on me.
I found a newsroom of talented and generous people who always inspired me to do better work. Not least of which are @jonathanoosting who always shared his wisdom and has a superhuman work ethic, and @joeltkurth who built me up, sharpened my stories and made me laugh.
(And of course my dearly departed reporting partners, @LindsayVanHulle who showed me the ropes here and @Jmalewitz who is both a friend and mentor for the BOOKS folks)
Also I love the Lansing press corps, a small but tenacious crew who do so much with so little and who regularly choose collaboration over competition. It’s trite, but support your local news by donation or subscription for God’s sake.

On Monday I’m joining the @detroitnews as a Washington Correspondent! I’m moving to DC later this year to cover federal politics and auto regulations.
Send me tips — I’m interested in how policy affects consumers, workers, climate and more. So excited for what lies ahead.
